This is a Takayama Chasen (tea whisk) from Ikoma City, Nara Prefecture, made from black bamboo, which is used by the Mushanokoji-senke school for usucha (thin tea). Before use, please soak it in hot water to soften the tines. After use, drain thoroughly and dry completely in a well-ventilated area. Avoid direct sunlight and high temperatures and humidity. Using a chasen kusenaoshi (tea whisk shaper) will help maintain its beautiful shape for a long time.
