Our store
Our main store is located on Tenjin-cho Shopping Street, a short distance from Matsue Station. Please take your time browsing our products in a calm and inviting atmosphere. In addition to food items such as tea, coffee, and soba noodles, we also sell tea ceremony utensils for various schools of tea, teaware, and Rakuzan-yaki, a traditional craft of Shimane Prefecture. *Parking is available next to the store.
Teahouse
In the back of the shop, in the tea garden, there is a three-tatami-mat tea room called "Shoginan." Tea culture is deeply rooted in the Izumo region, and many merchant houses in Matsue have tea gardens and tea rooms behind their shops. This "Shoginan" tea room is filled with the meticulous dedication of the second-generation owner. Please enjoy the unique machiya-style charm of Matsue.
Fumaiko's own handwriting: "Tea name: Naka no Shiro"
Nakamura Chaho owns a hanging scroll, personally inscribed by the daimyo tea master and seventh lord of the Matsue Domain, Matsudaira Fumai. This scroll contains the origin of the name of Nakamura Chaho's signature product, the matcha "Nakanoshiro."
Matcha factory, electric stone mills
The matcha factory next to our store is equipped with 40 stone mills exclusively for matcha production. This is one of the traditions Nakamura Chaho has upheld for generations to deliver freshly ground matcha to everyone. You can also tour the factory by appointment. (Reservations required, fee applies) Enjoy the rare sight of matcha processing and the aroma of freshly ground matcha.
Kura Gallery
At the back of the store is a traditional Japanese storehouse, or kura, which once served as a storage facility for tea jars. Its plaster-coated interior walls are resistant to moisture, keeping it remarkably cool even in summer. This valuable building narrowly escaped a major fire around 1949, and today, it functions as the "Kura Gallery," available for rent for tea ceremony exhibitions, meetings, and other events.
