New Lafcadio Coffee [BA-06]

"Lafcadio Coffee" is an original coffee developed by Nakamura Chaho in 1988 as an homage to Lafcadio Hearn (Koizumi Yakumo), a literary figure associated with Matsue. It is a light roast drip bag coffee that minimizes bitterness and maximizes the rich flavor inherent in the beans and their elegant sweetness.

Yakumo preferred Western-style food, and coffee was an absolutely essential daily beverage for him. While in New Orleans, he even published a cookbook of Creole recipes and wrote about coffee culture in it. Even today, in the Koizumi family, offering coffee to the Buddhist altar every morning is a daily ritual.
