This is a Sabisen-su Kyusu (teapot) from Hasami ware, Nagasaki Prefecture. The contrast between the glossy white porcelain and the rust-colored dye applied to the "sensuji" carved lines is beautiful.
It evokes a sense of nostalgia while also feeling modern, fitting seamlessly into both Japanese and Western living spaces.
The round, low "kyusu" allows tea leaves to expand well, bringing out more of the tea's umami and aroma.
The kyusu body comes with a ceramic tea strainer, and a removable stainless steel tea strainer is also included.
