This T-shirt is a memorial T-shirt for Lafcadio Hearn, also known as Yakumo Koizumi, who deeply loved Japan and was "open-minded," embracing all cultures worldwide without discrimination. It has been exclusively manufactured and sold by Nakamura Chaho since 2009. For its creation, we received design suggestions and advice from Mr. and Mrs. Koizumi, who are the great-grandchildren of Yakumo Koizumi.

◎About the "Lafcadio Hearn Portrait Print"

Lafcadio Hearn, who was a journalist in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA at the time, contributed an article titled "Saint Malo" to "Harper's Weekly" on March 31, 1883. Based on the delicate pen-and-ink portrait of Hearn published with that article, this is a woodblock print portrait created by either Hearn himself or someone else re-carving the image onto a woodblock. Since Hearn lost his left eye at the age of 16, his portrait is always shown in profile.
