This T-shirt is a memorial to Lafcadio Hearn (also known as Koizumi Yakumo), who deeply loved Japan and was an "open-minded" individual who accepted all cultures around the world without discrimination. It is exclusively manufactured by Nakamura Chaho and has been on sale since 2009. For its creation, we received design suggestions and advice from Mr. and Mrs. Bon Koizumi, the great-grandson and his wife of Koizumi Yakumo.

◎About "The cover of the first edition of Hearn's 'La Cuisine Creole'"

Lafcadio Hearn (Koizumi Yakumo) lived as a journalist in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, for about 10 years starting in 1877. Fascinated by the mixed culture of this city, known as Creole, he published 'La Cuisine Creole' in 1885, his only cookbook in his career as a writer. Creole cuisine is a fusion of Native American, French, and African ingredients and cooking methods. Hearn collected recipes by taking down notes from women close to him. The book also contains the description, "Mocha and Java are the best coffees."
